    Windows XP vs Windows Vista

If you bought any new computer only tested for windows vista do not try to reformat using winxp.

I bought a laptop with FreeDOS. I do have OEM license winxp (Home) so why i need to waste money for the another license. Seems I can use the recovery CD for the driver installation. I can safe few hundred RM here. Thanks to dell for online purchase and customization.

Without further delay i made the DVD/CDROM for first boot and tried for windows xp (Home) installation.

Made me sick when it's fail to detect my SATA ACHI HDD. ahhh!

Don't ask me to install Open Source Operating System.

Tried for winvista goes for blue screen. ahhh!!

Then i did slipstream on the winxp (home) CD included that driver for  the HDD. Now i almost done, left is the High Definition Audio Bus conflicts and the WIFI cannot detect my wireless router SSID. I downloaded much 3 parties drivers such as Intel who did the chipset to solve the problem. Much drivers being update once i issue the trouble tickets.

I wondering MAC can boost their sales while M$ preparing for winxp SP3 will lauch next year (March 2008) and winvista SP1 soon.

As a consumer please be careful on new computer, get to know the technology availabilities. If your friend use that computer with no problem, please buy that. :)

It is a lesson that need to be learned.

Re: Windows XP vs Windows Vista

    Hi,

I am just wondering if your computer is Vista capable or Vista Ready. Besides, you never mentioned where you have your version of Vista.

I am using Vista Ultimate which i got from Microsoft as Christmas Gift with my Toshiba laptop. It is superb. Plus the Office 2007 with the purchase from HP HUP, it makes my life easier.

    Please try original copy.

    Thank you
